2nd Lieut, Hugh Hall, MC, Durham Light Infantry

BORN HULL 1892. YOUNGEST SON OF FRANCIS HALL (1860-1930) & MARY JANE REED (1859-1906), OF 61 ALEXANDRA ROAD, HULL (PROBATE ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SIITERS. HIS FATHER WAS A BUILDER AND HE WORKED FOR HIM AS A BRICKLAYER.

BEFORE THE WAR HE SERVED WITH THE 5TH EYR (CYLISTS) TERRITORIALS AND WAS CALLED UP WHEN WAR BEGAN. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE AND THEN LANCE CORPORAL IN THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS COMMISSIONED IN EARLY 1916 AND TRANSFERRED TO THE 9TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE WON THE MILITARY CROSS IN JULY 1917. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, BY A SHELL ON 15TH SEPTEMBER 1917. PROBATE ADDRESS. HE LEFT £116 IN HIS WILL TO NORA HALL.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 26TH SEPTEMBER 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

HE IS COMMEMRATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLAND, HULL.

HE LEFT £116 IN HIS WIL TO HIS SISTER NORAH.

HIS ELDER BROTHER FRANCREIS (1889-1915) DIED IN HULL, AGED 26.
