Born Leeds, Yorkshire, 19 Dec 1893. Son of the Late Henry Hamlet and Nancy Willis Hamlet. His mother died at Hull, in 1904.
He was raised by his grandfather, John Willis, in Filey, Yorkshire.
Emigrated to Canada where he worked as a gas engineer. described as 5 foot, 6 inches tall, 35 inch chest, brown eyes, brown hair, Presbyterian religion
He enlisted in Canada early 1915. Served with the 5th Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment). Killed in action, at Courcelette, on 27 Sep 1916, aged 23.
Commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, France. Also commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial, although his connection with Beverley is unknown.
