BORN HULL 1884. SON OF ROBERT HARMER AND ELIZABETH GREETING (1863-1949) OF 12, GRASSMERE AVENUE, SUBWAY STREET, HULL AND 8, WALKER TERRACE, MANCHESTER STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS. HE WORKED AS A DOCK LABOURER.
HE ENLISTED AT LANCASTER. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 27TH SEPTEMBER 1915. SERVED WITH THE 8TH KING’S OWN ROYAL LANCASTER REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/07/1916, AGED 32. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
