Haselhurst, William

Born Beverley, 1892. Son of John and Lora Haselhurst, of Mill House, Grovehill Beverley. Eldest of three sons. His father worked in a corn and flour factory. his brother Arthur was an Office Boy, His brother, John was a Merchant’s Clerk.

William was a Junior Draughtsman (educational) – 1911 Census.

He married at Godstone, Surrey, in 1917. Husband of Grace Marie Weise.

Resided Long Benton, Northumberland. He had two step children Pauline and Peter, and son Basil, born on 30 July 1918.

He enlisted at Newcastle-on-Tyne. Served as Lance Corporal, with the 2nd Coldstream Guards. Died of wounds, 13/11/1918

Commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial.

His brother, Private, John Haselhurst (1894-1973), 390339, served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and was discharged on 3 June 1919.
