BORN HULL 31/08/1899. SON OF EVAN & HARRIET HAWKES, OF 5, QUEENS PLACE, WILLIAM STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS) AND 3, ALBERT TERRACE, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON A TIMBER CARRIER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 9TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/07/1918, AGED 18. BURIED AT COURMAS CEMETERY, ON THE MARNE. HIS FATHER AND BROTHERS ALSO SERVED.
