Born Lichfield, Staffordshire, 3rd December 1890. Son of Hector Horace Hernaman and Lilla Hernaman, of Bradford. Son of a railway worker.
He worked for the Sheffield goods station and depots and joined the Midlands Railway, in 1908.
He enlisted at Sheffield. Posted to France, on 28th April 1915. Served as Corporal, in the 2/4th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Died on 02/11/1918. Buried Antwerp, Belgium.
