Born Fulford, Yorkshire, 1895. Son of John Hetherton, of Sandburn, Stockton-on-the-Forest, Yorkshire. Son of an Incorporated Accountant, from Scotland. He had two brothers and two sisters. A farm pupil, at Bootham, Grange, York (1911 Census)
He enlisted in Hull. Served in the 1st East Riding of Yorkshire Yeomanry. Died in Rgypt on 14th Nove 1916, aged 21.
His army effects were left to Miss Clarissa Ellis.
Buried at Cairo, Egypt. His grave inscription, reads, IN LOVING MEMORY SON OF MR. & MRS. J. HETHERTON OF YORK
His elder brother John served as Private, 466233, London Regiment. His younger brother, Leslie, served as Gunner, 245324, RFA
