BORN HULL 1897. SON OF RICHARD HILL (1874-1943) & ADA RAWLING. OF 8, JOHNS TERRACE, KENT STREET, HULL AND 2, CICERO TERRACE, SWANN STREET, HULL(1911 CENSUS & WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A FORMER ROYAL ENGINEER (1902-1907) AND CORN PORTER. HE HAD ONE BROTHER, HAROLD, & FIVE SISTERS.
EMPLOYED AS A BOX MAKER AT THE HULL RECKITT’S FACTORY.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 2885, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1/5TH BORDER REGIMENT. REPORTED WOUNDED, MISSING AND KILLED ON 01/10/1916, AGED 20. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ADA, AT THIS WAR PENSION ADDRESS.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING ON THE SOMME. HIS NAME IS ALSO RECORDED ON THE RECKITTS WW1 BOYS CLUB ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL.
