BORN HULL 1887. SON OF ROBERT HODGSON (1865-1904) AND BETSEY HODGSON (1864-1891). STEP SON OF MRS LILY HODGSON, OF 19 PROSPECT LACE, CHURCH STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 28/08/1915, AGED 28. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO LILY, HIS SISTER, MRS VIOLET HACKNEY AND HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, JOHN WILLIAM HODGSON, 13TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS, WHO SERVED IN FRANCE.
HE IS BURIED IN BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “LEAVING HIM TO SLEEP IN TRUST TILL THE RESURRECTION DAY LOVED BY ALL”.
