BORN HULL 1896. SON OF JOHN THOMAS HOGARTH (1860-1908) AND MARION VEITCH MASON (1862-1938), OF 5 PERCY’S AVENUE, RUGBY STREET, HULL AND 1 ALFRED’S TERRACE, EASTBOURNE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A MERCHANT SAILOR. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. HIS MOTHER WAS BORN IN SCOTLAND.

HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A PRINTER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A DRIVER, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. CAPTURED ON 27/05/1918. DIED OF PNEUMONIA, WHILE A PRISONER OF WAR, ON 15/10/1918, AGED 22. BURIED GERMANY.

HE WAS REPORTED MISSING IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 21/06/1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON ST JOHN THE BAPTIST, CHURCH MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.
