Thomas Roy Holden

BORN WILLERBY, HULL, 18/06/1892. SON OF THOMAS HOLDEN (1865-1945) AND MABEL CONSTANCE LAMB (1869-1897), OF BEVERLEY. WORKED AS AN ARTICLED CLERK FOR HIS GRANDFATHER AT HOLDEN, SONS & HODGSON SOLICITORS, TRINITY HOUSE LANE, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, BUT DISCHARGED DUE TO AN ‘INTERNAL AILMENT’. REJOINED AS A FLIGHT LIEUTENANT, IN THE ROYAL NAVAL AIR SERVICE. TRAINED AT EASTBOURNE. INJURED IN A FLIGHT ACCIDENT AT BRIDLINGTON. HE RETURNED HOME. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 11/10/1916, AGED 24. BURIED IN HULL. WAS GIVEN A FULL MILITARY FUNERAL, ALTHOUGH HE IS NOT RECORDED IN CWGC RECORDS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 14TH NOVEMBER 1916.
