HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 12/12/1915, AGED 24. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8 INCHES TALL, 34.5 INCH CHEST, 141 LBS WEIGHT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 13/09/1916. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 44425, 41ST MACHINE GUN CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 03/05/1917, AGED 25. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MARY ANN, AT 38 QUEEN STREET, HULL AND 1, PARK ROW, PARK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE LEFT BROTHERS, WALTER AND ALBERT AND SISTER, ETHEL COOK. HIS OTHER BROTHER, THOMAS HENRY HOLDER, SERVED ON THE S/S JUPITER AND WAS LOST AT SEA, ON 21/05/1917.
