HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN 1911. SERVED AS PTE. ALFRED GORDON HOLMES, EAST RIDING YEOMANRY AND WAS MOBILIZED ON THE FIRST DAY OF WAR. HE SERVED IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/09/1918, AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 14/10/1918. *
