BORN HULL 28/09/1879. SON OF GEORGE HOWARD & MARY JANE (LACY), OF NEWBRIDGE ROAD, HULL. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS LIVING IN ENGLAND.

HUSBAND OF AMY LACY (FORMERLY HOWARD) AT  33, RENSBURG STREET, HULL. A FORMER TAILOR. HE HAD ALSO SERVED IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS, AT CHATHAM, KENT, FOR THREE YEARS.

HE EMIGRATED TO ONTARIO, CANADA, WHERE HE CONTINUED TO WORK AS A TAILOR.

DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8 INCHES TALL, 37-39 INCH CHEST, FAIR COMPLEXION, BLUE EYES, BROWN HAIR.

HE ENLISTED IN THE CANADIAN ENGINEERS, ON 23/09/1914.  BADLY WOUNDED AT THE ST JULIAN BATTLE, YPRES, WHERE A SHELL TORE OFF PART OF HIS LEFT CALF. INVALIED TO CANADA IN NOVEMBER 1915. WHERE HE WAS AN OUT PATIENT AT THE CENTRAL CONVALESCANT HOME.

HE CAUGHT A CHILL AND DIED OF LOBAR PNEUMONIA, IN TORONTO, CANADA, ON 07/04/1916, AGED 36. HE TOOK FIVE DAYS TO DIE AND MOSTLY DELIRIOUS, TALKING ABOUT THE BLOODY BATTLE AT ST JULIAN.
