BORN BEVERLEY 1890. ONLY SON OF CHARLES HUDDLESTON (1847-1890) AND ANNE BRAY (1866-1939). HE HAD ONE SISTER, ANNE.
WAS EMPLOYED AS A SHIP OWNER’S CLERK. MARRIED ETHEL FISH (1889-1985), AT THE BOULEVARD, UNITED METHODIST CHURCH HALL, IN HULL, ON 15/07/1910. THEY HAD THREE CHILDREN, JOHN, GEORGE AND ENID. THEY LIVED AT RINGROSE STREET (1911 CENSUS) AND AT 83 HUNTINGDON STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS 5 FOOT 8 INCHES TALL, 142 LBS WEIGHT, 38 INCH CHEST.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 24/11/1914, AGED 24 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS. FORMERLY 13/785 OF THE 13TH EYR & 4TH HULL PALS. TRAINED AT BEVERLEY AND RIPON. HE SERVED IN EGYPT FROM 15/12/1915. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 08/03/1916. TRANSFERRED AS CORPORAL, TO ‘B COMPANY, 2ND DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE DIED OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO HIS RIGHT THIGH AND LEG, ON 20/04/1918, AGED 31. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ETHEL AT THIS 1918 MILITARY VOTERS ADDRESS.
BURIED AT WIMEREUX COMMUNAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCIPTION, READS, “THY WILL BE DONE”
