BORN HULL 1895. NEWINGTON. SON OF ANNIE ELIZABETH HUNT AND FRANCIS HUNT, OF 57, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 26, GOULTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A JOINER. HE WAS A WAREHOUSE FOREMAN. HIS BROTHER, FRANCIS WAS A CARETAKER.
HE ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY IN FRANCE FOR 15 MONTHS. DURING THIS TIME HE WAS WOUNDED TWICE, SUFFERED FROM SHELL SHOCK AND INVALIDED TO ENGLAND. HE HAD RETURNED TO THE FRONT FOR ELEVEN WEEKS WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 30/12/1917, AGED 22. HE WAS DUE TO BE MARRIED AT CHRISTMAS AND RETURNED HOME FOR A COMMISSION.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 14/01/1917, WHICH STATES THAT HE WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL (MM).
