John Thomas Ibbertson

John Thomas Ibbetson, of the 12th Battalion, Hull Pals, died of wounds at 30 Casualty Clearing Station, France on the 5th May 1917 and buried at Aubigny-en-Artois. Presumably wounded in the Oppy Wood offensive, he died of gunshot wounds to the back and right arm.
He was born Thorne, Yorkshire, 1893 (not Thornton, Lancashire as recorded in the official record from the time). The son of Joe and Mary Ann Ibbertson. His father Joe, was a waterman and in the 1901 Census, the Ibbertson family were living on a barge at Alexandria Dock, Hull.

John Thomas Ibbetson married Frances May Barker in 1914 at Beverley, having a son, also named John Thomas born 11/09/1914. She lived at 5, Cleo Terrace, Westmoreland Street, Hull (War Pension address). He is commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial.
