BORN HULL 1890. SON OF WILLIAM IRWIN (1852-1903) & JANE SMITH (1853-1918), OF 54 DALTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. OIL MILL WORKER.

ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 5TH OXFORD & BUCKINGHAMSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 17/10/1915, AGED 25. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, BELGIUM.

HIS WAR PENSION, WENT TO ELSIE COOK, OF 5 WILLIAMS TERRACE, WALLER STREET, HULL, THE GUARDIAN OF HIS DAUGHTER, SARAH ELIZABETH IRWIN.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HULL, WILMINGTON ROLL OF HONOUR, WITH ERNEST IRWIN.
