HE LIVED AT 229 WINCOLMLEE ACCORDING TO THE 1911 CENSUS. ENLISTED HULL ON 31/05/1916 AT THE AGE OF 34 YEARS AND 30 DAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 9 INCHES TALL, 134 LBS, 37 INCH CHEST, AND OF ‘GOOD’ PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 25/11/1916. RECEIVED A GUNSHOT WOUND ON 9/04/1917. WAS PART OF THE BATTALION SAVED BY JACK HARRISON VC. WOUNDED AGAIN ON 1/09/1918. HE DIED A WEEK BEFORE THE WAR ENDED ON 4/11/1918. HE LEFT WIDOW KATE DEMPSEY & FOUR CHILDREN AT 2, OXFORD STREET, HULL. ALSO LEFT BROTHER’S ALFRED, JOHN GEORGE, CHARLES & WILLIAM JACKSON. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 12TH & 13TH DECEMBER 1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
