BORN HULL 1899. SON OF ADA JORDAN (FORMERLY JACKSON) & THE LATE THOMAS CRATHORNE JACKSON (1873-1936), OF 113 ADELAIDE STREET, HULL AND 14 FLORENCE TERRACE, VILLA PLACE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. WORKED AS AN OIL MILLER.

HE HAD TRIED TO ENLIST, ON 02/03/1916 UNDERAGE. HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY, ON 02/01/1918, AGED 18 YEARS AND 30 DAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 2.5 INCHES TALL, 34.5 INCH CHEST, 112 LBS WEIGHT, BROWN EYES, BROWN HAIR. TRAINED AT RUGELEY CAMP WITHE 53RD DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 25/07/1918. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 46903, 19TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 31/10/1918, AGED 18. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HE LEFT A BROTHER, JAMES, AND SISTERS, MARY AND CHARLOTTE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, AT THIS ADDRESS. THERE WAS SOME DELAY IN PAYING HIS WAR PENSION, AND SHE WROTE TO THE ARMY AUTHORITIES, DESPERATE FOR MONEY.
