BORN HULL 1895. SON OF HENRY JAMES JEFFREY (1872-1949) & ETHEL JEFFREY (1884-1918), OF 45 LISTER STREET, HULL. AND 69, GREAT THORNTON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE WAS ONE OF THREE HULL BROTHERS KILLED IN THE WAR.
HE WORKED AS A HOUSE PAINTER APPRENTICE.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 1263, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 2ND YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION,ON 2ND APRIL 1917, AGED 22. HE IS BURIED AT TILLOY BRITISH CEMETERY, TILLOY-LES-MOFFLAINES, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.
HIS BROTHERS, PRIVATE, GEORGE DAVID JEFFREY, 2ND LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 21/03/1918, AGED 21. HIS OTHER BROTHER, PRIVATE, LAWRENCE FREDERICK JEFFREY, 10/42, 10TH EYR, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 29/10/1916, AGED 24. THEIR MOTHER ETHEL, WHO HAD LOST THREE SONS IN THE WAR, DIED IN 1918. THEIR WAR PENSION WENT TO THEIR FATHER, HENRY JAMES AT 69, GREAT THORNTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
