HE WAS MARRIED TO EDITH DUERDEN JOHNSON (1885-1974), ON 23/07/1911, AT BURNLEY CHAPEL. WORKED AS A COTTON WEAVER. LIVING AT 10 WILSON STREET, FOULRIDGE, COLNE.
HE ENLISTED IN NOVEMBER 1916. JOINING THE 5TH BORDER REGIMENT. SERVED IN FRANCE, FROM DECEMBER 1917. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 11/08/1918, AGED 31. HIS DEATH WAS CONFIRMED, BY A COMRADE, PRIVATE, J PILLING, FROM 185 COTTON TREE LANE, COTTONTREE. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE INGAHMITE CHURCH WAR MEMORIAL IN COLNE.
