Johnson, Stanley

Born Southcoates, Hull, 1897. Son of Thomas Benjamin (Ben) Johnson and Isabella Johnson, of 35, Buckingham Street, Hull (1911 Cenus); 21, Arundle Street, Hull (Army records address) and the Shopping Centre, Garden Village, Hull (War Pension address). Son of a sailor. He worked as a Draper’s errand Boy.

He was a Engineer Turner, Employed by Priestman Enginners, Hull.

Enlisted on 2 June 1914. Served in the East yorkshire Regiment. Transferred to the 1/5th Reserve Border Regiment. Posted to France, on 13 July 1916. Wounded with Shell Shock on 16 Sept 1916. Returned to England on 26 Sept 1916. Discharged on 20 Aug 1917, after 3 years and 81 days service. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 225951). Unable to work again.

Died in Hull, on 14 Mar 1919, aged 22.
