BORN HULL 1893. FIFTH SON OF JAMES JORDAN (1848-1909) & MARGARET LOGAN WINSLADE (1855-1928), OF 12, NORWOOD TERRACE, STANLEY STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). SON OF A STONE MASON. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTER. WORKED AS A COAL FILLER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 06/12/1915, AGED 22 YEARS AND 1 MONTH. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 33 INCH CHEST, 116 LBS WEIGHT, GOOD PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. MOBILIZED ON 20/03/1916. HE LEFT FOLESTONE FOR BOULONGNE AND ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 28/07/1916. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 27842, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, AT THE SOMME, ON 25/09/1916, AGED 23. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. HE LEFT FIVE BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS.

HE WAS UNMARRIED, HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, MARGARET.

HIS BROTHER, ERNEST SERVED AS 42912, KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ARTHUR JORDAN, RAMC & LABOUR CORPS, WAS AWARDED THE SILVER WAR BADGE AND DIED AT HULL, IN DECEMBER 1925, AGED 41.
