BORN HULL 16/03/1882. SON OF EMILY & THE LATE AUGUSTINE JAMES KELLY, OF 55, GREAT UNION STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS), 8 BRIGHT TERACE, BRIGHT STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS) AND PICKERING HOMES, HULL. ONE OF THREE KELLY BROTHERS KILLED IN WW1.

HIS WIFE, ELIZABETH AND FOUR CHILDREN (AUGUSTINE, EDWARD, WILSON & ALICE), LIVED AT 8, ST GEORGES GROVE, WOODCOCK STREET, HULL (NAVY RECORDS ADDRESS). HE DROWNED WHILE MINESWEEPING, ON 26/08/1915, AGED 33. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WOODCOK STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (HDM 23/09/1916).

ALSO COMMEMORATED AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, WW1 MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, JOHN KELLY, 39078, 1/5TH YORK & LANCS REGIMENT WAS KILLED ON 26/06/1918, AGED 30 AND IS BURIED AT MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, EDWARD KELLY, 17229, 2ND HAMPSHIRE REGIMENT DIED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 06/08/1915, AGED 36.

JASPER, Admiralty-owned trawler, 221/1912, previously Kingston Steam Trawling, purchased by Admiralty pre-war, 1-6pdr, Admiralty No.164, commissioned as minesweeper, Lt William St Clair Fleming RNR. Taking part in sweeping field laid by German auxiliary minelayer Meteor in Moray Firth, mined at 0935 on 26th August 1915 and sank quickly (8 ratings killed).
