THEY HAD THREE CHILDREN, FLORENCE, THOMAS AND JOHN EDWARD KELLY. HE HAD PREVIOUSLY SERVED WITH THE 2ND WORCESTSHIRE REGIMENT FOR 3 YEARS (PAPERS MISSING). HE WAS A LABOURER IN THE BROTHERTON & CO CHEMICAL WORKS, LEEDS. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FFOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 112 LBS WEIGHT, 36-38 INCH CHEST, TATTOOS ON BOTH FOREARMS.
HE ENLISTED AT LEEDS, ON 8/12/1915. MOBILIZED ON 28TH NOVEMBER 1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 10TH FEBRUARY 1917. SERVED WITH THE 1/5TH YORK & LANCS REGIMENT. DIED OF HEAD WOUNDS, ON 18/04/1918, AGED 30. BURIED IN FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW FLORENCE. THEIR SON JOHN DIED IN INFANCY OF PNEUMONIA.
