HE MARRIED ON 15/12/1895, ST NICHOLAS CHURCH, GREAT YARMOUTH. HIS WIFE EDITH JAYNE PYE LIVED AT 130 WOODCOCK STREET (1911 CENSUS) & 15, EDEN GROVE, EASTBOURNE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). A FISHERMAN. HE SKIPPERED THE HULL TRAWLER “AMEER”. LOST AT SEA, ON 18/03/1916, AGED 46. BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.
HE LEFT £150 IN HIS WILL, TO HIS WIDOW. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 24/03/1916. *
HE IS COMMEMORATED AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
The British Navy trawler HMT Ameer was sunk on 18th March 1916 by a mine from the German submarine UC-7 (Georg Haag), off Felixstowe. 8 of the crew were killed.
