ONE OF NINE CHILDREN AND THREE SONS LOST IN THE WAR. HE WORKED AS A CARRIAGE CLEANER AND ALSO LIVED AT 20 ROSAMOND STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 14/09/1914. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 8 INCHES TALL, 135 LBS, BROWN EYES, DARK HAIR AND DARK COMPLEXION. SERVED IN THE 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN EGYPT FROM 08/12/1915. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 07/03/1916. KILLED IN ACTION ON 22/07/1916, AGED 22. HE HAD SERVED FOR 1 YEAR & 311 DAYS.
