HEWAS CAPTURED AND DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT LAON, ON 27/09/1914, AGED 29. HE WAS THE GRANDSON OF MR WILLIAM KIRK, HULL PRINTER. MR E T SHARP WAS HIS UNCLE. HE WAS WELL KNOWN IN HULL HAVING WORKED NINE YEARS FROM THE AGE OF 15 TO 24, IN THE RATING OFFICE OF MR D WING IN POSTERNGATE. HE JOINED THE 1ST COLDSTREAM GUARDS IN 1910. HE LEFT FOR FRANCE ON 03/08/1914. DIED A PRISONER OF WAR IN THE GERMAN XV ARMY CORPS HOSPITAL, ON 27/09/1914, OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT MONS. AGED 29. HIS WAR HAD LASTED 54 DAYS. HIS WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 5 SHILLINGS WENT TO HIS MOTHER, WHO WAS WHOLLY IMPAIRED.
RANDAL’S DEATH IS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, ON 4TH DECEMBER 1914. ALSO IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 5TH DECEMBER 1915. *
