Born Beverley, 1893. Eldest son of Frederick James Knight (1859-1936) and Harriet Knight (1868-1952), of 25 Ladygate, Beverley (War pension address). His father was an Inn Keeper and his mother assisted with the pub business. Philip had two brothers and three sisters. He worked in the fish trade (1911 Census).
He enlisted at Beverley, on 16/02/1916. Served in the Royal Army Service Corps, Driver, Service Number T4/044474. Transferred to the Royal Air Force, on 12/01/1918. Died at home, of pneumonia, on 01/03/1919. His army effects were left to his father, Frederick. He is buried at Beverley.
