HE MARRIED AT ST JAMES, HULL, ON 21ST OOCTOBER 1901, AGED 22. HIS WIFE BERTHA ELIZABETH HICKS (1875-1945) WAS FROM HULL AND LIVED AT 2, DUDLEY AVENUE, MAYFIELS STREET, HULL. THEY HAD TWO DAUGHTERS AND A SON AND LIVED AT 129 & 131, ELSENHAM ROAD, LITTLE COATES, GRIMSBY, LINCOLNSHIRE (WAR PENSION RECORDS). HE WORKED AS A BAKER.
DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 152 LBS WEIGHT, 38-40 INCH CHEST, BROWN EYES, LIGHT BROWN HAIR.
HE ENLISTED AT GRIMSBY, ON 14TH OCTOBER 1914. SERVED WITH THE 2ND LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. APPOINTED LANCE CORPORAL ON 07/09/1915. PROMOTED TO SERGEANT, ON 06/08/1916. DIED OF MULTIPLE WOUNDS, ON 10/10/1918, AGED 41. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW.
