BORN HULL 1869. SON OF WILLIAM HULLETT LAMMIMAN (1827-1880) ANDMARY HANNAH DIXON (1829-1904), AT “BERNARD HOUSE”, CHOLMLEY STREET, HULL. AHE MARRIED ROSE HANNAH DIXON (1868-1964) AT HULL, IN 1890. THEY HAD SEVEN CHILDREN. HE SERVED ON THE GRIMSBY TRAWLER “ANDROMARCHE”. HE DROWNED AFTER SUBMARINE ATTACK, ON 12/04/1917, AGED 48. HE LEFT £1,169 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW. HIS SON ALBERT, SERVED AS PRIVATE, 4386. 1/4TH EYR, AND WASDISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY IN 1916 WITH NECK WOUNDS.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, LEONARD LAMMIMMAN, RAMC, WON THE DCM & OTHER BROTHER ,BERNARD ALSO SERVED (HDM 17/11/1916). ANOTHER BROTHER, WILLIAM, DIED AT HULL, IN 1916 AND THREE SISTERS, MARY, PATIENCE AND FRANCES, ALL DIED IN 1917.
The British trawler Andromache was on her way back from the fishing grounds of Iceland, when on April 14th 1917, she was stopped west of the Shetlands by the German submarine U-78 (Otto Dröscher). The master was taken prisoner and the crew of 11 ordered to the lifeboats. She was then scuttled and sunk. Nothing was ever heard of the lifeboats.
