BORN LINCS, 1887. A SIGNALMAN IN THE ROYAL NAVY. HE HAD ONLY TRANSFERRED TO HMS ‘QUEEN MARY’ IN FEBRUARY 1916 AND HAVING COMPLETED HIS TIME, ANTICIPATED RETURNING HOME TO HIS WIFE, IN BERMONDSEY, WHO HE HAD MARRIED SIX MONTHS BEFORE. HE WAS LOST ON HMS “QUEEN MARY”, AT THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND, ON 31/05/1916, AGED 29. HIS WIDOW ETHEL LAMMING LIVED IN BERMONDSEY, LONDON.

CHRISTOPHER LAMMING IS LISTED ON THE WALKER STREET ROLL OF HONOUR. HE IS ALSO LISTED AS KILLED ON HULL’S ENGLISH STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 23 September 1916). HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 14TH JUNE 1916. *
