Lane, Harold

BORN HULL 1894. SON OF JOHN LANE (1864-1917) & SOPHIA WILSON (1868-1944), OF 3 MORRELL’S BUILDINGS, VILLA PLACE, HULL, WHO LOST 3 SONS DURING THE WAR. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER.

BEFORE THE WAR HAROLD LANE WORKED AS A MAST & BLOCK MAKER. HE SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY AND DIED SHORTLY AFTER THE WAR ENDED, ON 08/05/1919, AGED 25.

HIS TWO YOUNGER BROTHERS WERE KILLED IN ACTION, DURING THE WAR.

BROTHERS, JAMES, HAROLD AND NORMAN LANE ARE ALL RECORDED ON ST THOMAS CHURCH MEMORIAL, CAMPBELL STREET, WHICH WAS DESTROYED IN WW2. tHEY ALSO LISTED TOGETHER ON THE HULL GARDENER’S FRIENDLY SOCIETY MEMORIAL, AT HULL MINSTER.
