BORN BILTON 1894. SON OF JOHN THOMAS LAVERACK (1858-1938) & ANN BALNCHARD (1863-1942), OF SPROATLEY. ONE OF FIVE SONS. HE WORKED AS A HORSEMAN ON A FARM IN PRESTON. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 39876, OF THE 22ND DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY PIONEERS. HE WAS KILLED DURING THE 1918 GERMAN SPRING OFFENSIVE, ON 26/02/1918, AGED 24. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ANNIE.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE SPROATLEY VILLAGE MEMORIAL ONE OF 61 MEN WHO SERVED, 13 OF WHICH DIED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-18.
HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME, AT HAM BRITISH CEMETERY, MUILLE-VILLETTE.
