BORN HULL 21/05/1895. SON OF WILLIAM LEDDEN (1857-1899) AND ANN MARIA GRAYSON (1853-1927), WHO LIVED AT 45 NAYLORS ROW, HULL. WITH HER THREE SONS (1911 CENSUS). A FORMER SOLDIER AND RESERVIST. HE WORKED FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS. HE SERVED WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE IN FRANCE. SENT TO IRELAND WITH THE 2ND ROYAL MARINE LIGHT ARTILLERY, DURING THE “EASTER RISING” 1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 25/09/1916. WOUNDED BY GUN SHOT IN THE NECK AND A FRACTURED JAW, ON 13/11/16. INVALIDED TO ENGLAND, RETURNED TO FRANCE, ON 31/07/1917. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/10/1917. AGED 21.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL.
