Leech, David

Born Hull, 1883. Son of William Leech (1855-1917) and Bridget Lyons (1856-1891), of Green Lane, Hull.

He enlisted in the 2nd EYR, on 22 Feb 1901, was a former soldier, with nearly 18 years experience and had served in the South Africa War and Army Reserves.

Married at Hull, in Oct 1905. Husband of Alice Louisa Ralph, at 41 Raikes Street, Hull (1911 Census). In civilian life he worked as a dock side Labourer. Described as 5 foot, 5.75 inches tall, 33-35.5 inch chest, 120 lbs weight, blue eyes, brown hair, Roman Catholic religion. He had two children, Alice Jane and John Leech.

He enlisted when war began. Posted to France, on 2 Nov 1914. Served with 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Discharged on 9 Dec 1917, with bullet wound to the right arm. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 262884), Died in Hull on 9 May 1932, aged 49.

His brother, William Leech, died in Hull in 1919, aged 31.
