On July 6th, 1918, Port Hardy, on a voyage from Buenos Aires to Genoa with a cargo of frozen meat, wheat & oats, was sunk by the German submarine U-91 (Alfred von Glasenapp), 78 miles WxN of Cape Spartel. 7 persons were lost.
