BORN HULL 1892. SON OF THE LATE EDWARD & ANNIE LEVITT, OF 59 LEE SMITH STREET, HEDON ROAD, HULL. HIS FATHER WORKED FOR THE HULL CORPORATION. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A SHIP STEWARD. HE LIVED AT 5 FRANCIS PLACE, WAVERLEY STREET, HULL, (1911 CENSUS). HE JOINED THE ARMY IN 1912 AND SERVED WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/10/1914, AGED 27. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 19/12/1914. *
HIS BROTHER, DRIVER, ALBERT LEVITT, RFA ALSO SERVED WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. THEIR OTHER BROTHER, HAROLD LEVITT, HAD DIED IN AN INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT IN HULL IN 1913. THEIR WIDOWED MOTHER, HAD LOST HER HUSBAND AND THREE SONS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS.
