BORN ULCEBY, LINCS, 1889. SON OF JOHN ALFRED & EMILY LIDGETT, OF ULCEBY, LINCS. HE MARRIED AT HULL, IN 1912. HIS WIFE ETHEL (WAUDBY) LIVED AT 5, YORK TERRACE, MARMADUKE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS), 27 ST JAMES STREET, HULL & 15, CHESTNUT AVENUE, WELLSTED STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). PRIOR TO WAR, HE WAS A TAXI DRIVER FOR THE HUMBER TRANSPORT COMPANY. HE HAD ONE DAUGHTER, MURIEL MAY, BORN ON 29/1/1914.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 24TH TYNESIDE IRISH. HE WAS KILLED BY SHELL SPLINTER TO THE HEAD, ON 16/12/1916, AGED 27. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 4TH JANUARY 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. * HE IS BURIED AT RATION FARM MILITARY CEMETERY, LA CHAPELLE-D’ARMENTIERES. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “BELOVED HUSBAND OF ETHEL LIDGETT TILL WE MEET”.
