BORN HULL 31/12/1888. SON OF JOHN EDWARD LILLEY (1864-1936) & MARY ANN TULLOCK, OF 7, HOLDERNESS VILLAS, RHODES STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS). SON OF A TRAFFIC FOREMAN. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND THREE MARRIED SISTERS. HIS FAMILY WORKED ON THE RAILWAYS. HE WAS A RAILWAY CLERK.
HE MARRIED LILLIAN MAUD RICHARDSON (1892-1982), AT SCULCOATES, HULL, IN 1913. THEY HAD TWO CHILDREN.
HIS WIFE LILLIAN, LIVED AT 50, AND 105, LEE STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 15TH MACHINE GUN CORPS. HE DIED ON 01/02/1919, AGED 30, AT NOTTINGHAM HOSPITAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, LILLIAN AT 105, LEE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL (HDM 27/05/1919) AND 10TH FEBRUARY 1919, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH OF HIS MILITARY FUNERAL POSSESSION. *
HE WAS ONE OF THREE BROTHERS WHO DIED IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR. THE THREE LILLEY SONS, WERE,

PRIVATE, FRED LILLEY, 184495, MACHINE GUN CORPS, DIED OF WOUNDS ON 01/02/1919, AT NOTTINGHAM HOSPITAL, AGED 30.
SYDNEY AND FRED LILLEY ARE BOTH COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
