BORN HULL 1895. SON OF JAMES LILLEY (1874-1904) AND ADA BLAKEY (1872-1941), OF 51, QUEEN STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HIS WIDOWED MOTHER MARRIED IN 1908.  HIS STEP FATHER WAS JAMES GOLDEN AT 2, KEELING ENTRY, MYTONGATE, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE WORKED AS AN ERRAND LAD.

ENLISTED HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 1546, EYR. TRANSFERRED TO THE 10TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 17/10/1917, AGED 23. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFTTO HIS HALF SISTERS, ANNIE, HILDA MAY, AGNES JANE, MARGARET AND ELIZABETH DUNLOP, AND SISTERS, CHARLOTTE HELEN SWANSON, & FLORENCE DOROTHY EVERATT,
