BORN HULL 1895. MISPELT ON MEMORIAL. ONLY SON OF GEORGE LITTLEDIKE (1853-1929) & MARY ELIZABETH GIBBS (1863-1921), OF 15, PORTER STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 17, FENCHURCH STREET, HULL. (WAR PENSION & HULL DAILY MAIL ADDRESS, 01/09/1919).

HE WAS EMPLOYED BY HIS FATHER, A CONFECTIONER, AT HULL MARKET HALL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, DECEMBER 1914. FORMERLY, A PRIVATE, IN “A” SQUARDON, EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 1897, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TWICE WOUNDED AND GASSED ONCE. TRANSFERRED TO THE SHERWOOD FORESTERS AND THEN THE 7TH KING’S SHROPSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 02/09/1918, AGED 20. BURIED FRANCE. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE.

HE IS BURIED AT VAULX HILL CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 17/09/1918.

HE LEFT TWO SISTERS, LILLY AND VIOLET. HIS ONLY BROTHER, HERBERT DIED IN 1903, AGED 4.

HE IS COMMEMORATED AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
