HE ENLISTED IN HULL AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. SERVING AS GUNNER, 140, 2ND HULL HEAVY BATTERY, AND MOVING TO THE 124TH BATTERY, RGA.
HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR SIXTEEN MONTHS, WITHOUT LEAVE. KILLED IN ACTION ON 29/09/1917, AGED 30. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOW BERNICE E. LOWSON, WHO MOVED TO BUTTERWICK ROAD, MESSINGHAM, GAINSBOROUGH, LINCS. HE IS BURIED AT THE HUTS CEMETERY, YPRES, BELGIUM.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 09/10/1917. *
