BORN 1896. SON OF WILLIAM AND ADOLPHINE MAACK. HIS PARENTS WERE FROM GERMANY. SON OF A MOTOR CYCLE ENGINEER. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. FORMERLY EMPLOYED AT THE POST TYPE WRITING COMPANY, SCALE LANE, HULL. HE LIVED WITH HIS SISTER AT THIS ADDRESS. HIS PARENTS LIVED 35 PORTER STREET AND THEN 167 WALKER STREET. HE ENLISTED WITH HIS TWO BROTHERS. JOINED THE LOCAL ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS. HE SERVED NEARLY FOUR YEARS IN FRANCE. WON THE MILITARY MEDAL (MM) FOR BRAVERY IN 1917. DIED IN A GERMAN HOSPITAL AS A PRISONER OF WAR. HIS DEATH WAS DUE TO DYSENTERY, STARVATION AND ILL TREATMENT. REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 19TH MARCH 1919, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. * HIS PHOTOGRAPH ALSO APPEARS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL 10TH JUNE 1915. *
HE IS BURIED AT NIEDERZWEHREN CEMETERY, KASSEL, GERMANY.
