BORN HULL 1899. SON OF JOHN MADDISON (1861-1931) & STEP MOTHER, SARAH ANN BROWN (1864-1936) OF 25, LORRAINE STREET, STONEFERRY, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF AN ENGINE DRIVER. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN.
HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. SERVED WITH THE 19TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. KILLED IN ACTION BETWEEN THE 24TH OR 25TH JULY 1918, AGED 18.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOHN.
HE IS BURIED AT ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSRIPTION, READS, “I KNOW NOT WHAT AWAITS ME GOD KINDLY VEILS MINE EYES”.
