Malcolm, Fred Barclay

Born Manchester, 22 Sep 1892. Son of David Kate Malcomb at 10, Whitedale, Airlie Street, Hull (CWGC & War Pension address).

Employed as an Engine Fitter, at Rose Down and Thompsons, Hull. Described as 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 36 inch chest, Auburn hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, good physical development.

Resided at 45, Rodney Street, Hull and 1, Camden Street, Boulevard (Army address). He had joined the East Riding RGA Territorials, on 4th May 1911. Enlisted at Hull, as a Gunner, on 5th August 1914. Discharged on 3rd May 1916 after five years service.

Enlisted on 26 Sep 1916. Served in the Royal Navy. Engine Room Artificer 4th Class, on HMS “Flirt”. Killed a month later on 26/10/1916, aged 24.
