BORN NORTH KELSEY, LINCS, 1886. SON OF GEORGE MARKHAM (1849-1910) & HANNAH MARIA EAST (1848-1902). ONE OF FIVE CHILDREN. HE MARRIED AT SCULCOATES, HULL ON 21/10/1907. WIFE ANNIE (FRATSON) MARKHAM (1887-1966) LIVED AT 6 KIMBERLEY AVENUE, SEYMOUR STREET, HULL. THEY HAD THREE CHILDREN, ARTHUR, GEORGE AND ANNIE. HE WAS A HULL POLICEMAN. HE ENLISTED AT LINCOLN, AND SERVED AS A LANCE CORPORAL, WITH THE 1ST LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE WAS KILLED AT THE MARNE ON 14/09/1914, AGED 28. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW WHO WAS PREGNANT WITH WITH THEIR DAUGHTER ANNIE.
