A PROFFESIONAL SOLDIER (1911 CENSUS). HE SERVED AS PRIVATE, 9070, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 25. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, MARGARET.
HIS BROTHER, LANCE CORPORAL, JAMES MARTIN, 10430, 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS WOUNDED IN THE WAR AND ALSO RECEIVED A WAR PENSION.
