BORN HULL 1882. SON OF CHARLES HENRY MAWER (1853-1918) & ANN JOHNSON (1854-1926), OF 6, ADDERBURY CRESCENT, ADDERBURY GROVE. SON OF A MERCHANT’S CLERK. HIS BROTHERS NORMAN, CHARLES, HENRY & STANLEY MAWER ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR AT THIS ADDRESS.
HE WORKED AS A TRAM DRIVER, DOCK LABOURER, WINE PORTER AND CLERK.
HE MARRIED AT ST STEPHEN’S CHURCH ON 04/02/1906. HIS WIFE, ANNIE ELIZA COULMAN, LIVED AT 2, WINDSOR TERRACE, COLONIAL STREET, HULL AND 14 TALBOT STREET, HULL.
IN 1910, HE WAS ON TRIAL FOR LIVING OFF IMMORAL EARNINGS AND FOUND NOT GUILTY.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTD TO FRANCE, ON 15/01/1915. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 4/02/1915, AGED 32.
HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THE YPRES MENIN GATE, MEMORIAL, BELGIUM AND AT ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 02/05/1918.
HIS WIDOW, REMARRIED A CIVILAIN, SAMUEL ROBINSON WARNER, ON 04/11/1916.
